Yvonne Eileen Scott Little

February 24, 1927 — May 5, 2024

This beautiful, amazing, ORNERY, vivacious, hilarious lady went to Heaven on Sunday, May 5th.

Yvonne was born February 24, 1927, to Nelda and Arthur Scott. She mercilessly antagonized her older sister Gwen and was excited to get to Heaven to apologize. She went by many names in her life: Toodles to her family, Scottie to her childhood friends, Mom to her kids, Aunt Scottie to her crazy niece, Mimi (Meem) to her grandkids, and Mimi Great to her great grandkids.

At Amarillo High School she won many awards including Junior and Senior Favorite. She was a cheerleader and had such fond memories of her “growing up years.” She attended Texas Tech University and had so much fun her Daddy wouldn’t let her go back.

Yvonne married Joe Bill LIttle on August 25, 1947, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage until his passing in 2009. The newlyweds moved to Canyon, Texas where J.B. was attending West Texas State College. It was there she was crowned the First Rodeo Queen of WTSC. She was afraid of horses and had to ride one into the arena to get her “crown” which was a cowboy hat!

J.B. 's career took them on many adventures moving them rom Canyon to many small towns in South Dakota. There she was crowned “Miss Chamberlain South Dakota.” She then went on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. They moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma, Phoenix, Arizona, Vienna, Virginia and finally settled for retirement in Norman.

Yvonne loved God, her family, friends, Gunsmoke, Dr. Pepper, and Oklahoma Softball. Her friendship with Patty Gasso and many of the players was one of the great joys of her life.

She made such an impact on so many throughout her 97 years. She brought many closer to God by loving and caring for others. She never saw a serviceman she didn’t thank for their service.

Her last bit of advice was “always choose kindness.” Her legacy will live on through her children, Brad Little, Sally Little and husband Dennis McDonald, her grandkids, Kelsea and Andrew Mills, Kellen and Brittany Carter, Kelly and Kaleigh Little, Brian and Scott McDonald, niece Jamie and husband Bruce Culvahouse and son Jean Ronald as well as her great grandkids, Carter and Ethan Mills, Violet, Hazel, and Olive Carter, Lucy and Dawson Little, and Connor McDonald.

The family would like to thank Rhonda, Calia, and the staff of Silver Elm Estates where she had so much fun, Sheree, Kat, and all who cared for her with Good Shepherd Hospice, and Daniel Kitchel and Cross Church where she was so loved.

We will be throwing her going away party at Cross Church 3201 60th NW. Avenue, Norman on Monday May 13th at 1:30p.m. She requested happy colors be worn! Donations in her name can be made to Dale K. Graham Veterans Foundation.
