Xavier Marque Baskeyfield

Xavier Marque Baskeyfield of Norman was born on April 16, 1998 in Oklahoma City, OK to parents Yarvus Stephens and Victoria Marie Baskeyfield. He was violently taken too soon at the age of 18 on Friday, March 17, 2017.

Xavier was a good kid. He was smart and kind, and he was very bright. He attended Norman North High School as a sophomore before moving to Arlington, TX to complete his high school education at Bowie High School.

Xavier was a talented athlete who understood the importance of overall fitness and healthy eating. He loved running and wrestling, but football was his true passion. Xavier played middle linebacker for Bowie, and was twice named Defensive Player of the Week during his senior season, helping them reach the playoffs in 2014 and 2015. A few months after graduation, Xavier moved back to Norman in hopes of realizing his dream of playing football at the University of Oklahoma. When he wasn’t playing football or exercising, Xavier enjoyed playing video games with his friends and putting together model cars.

Xavier’s death has left a huge hole in the hearts of his surviving relatives and friends: maternal grandparents Juleta Autrey and Kenneth Baskeyfield; mother Victoria “Tori” Baskeyfield of Norman; father Yarvus Stephens of Tulsa; sisters Kierra Baskeyfield, Shaieyanne Stephens, and Zoe Stephens; niece Amaya Stephens; and numerous uncles, an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. Xavier was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Alberta and George Stephens and his uncle Xavier Stephens.
