Willard “Dub” Wayne Raper, 83 of Moore, Oklahoma. Born June 18th, 1937 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 following complications from Covid 19. Dub graduated from Milburn High School in 1955 and then enrolled and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959 and returned to continue his education at Central State University graduating with a B.S. Degree in Education in 1964 and later earning his Masters Degree in 1970 from East Central University. After earning his teaching degree in 1964 Dub was a school teacher and a basketball coach for almost 40 years. Serving first as an assistant coach for three years at Putnam City High School he landed his first head basketball coaching position at Piedmont High School and followed that with head coaching stops at Davis, Millwood, Clinton, Owasso and Carl Albert High Schools and retired from coaching in Oklahoma in 1991. He then went on to Greenville High School in Greenville, Texas and coached for eight more years before returning to Moore in 2000. Dub then would coach for three more years in the Moore Public Schools system as a Jr. High basketball coach. Along with being recognized by the University of Central Oklahoma as their Family of Year, Dub was also nominated as a National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame candidate. His successful coaching career has earned him inductions into the Murray State College Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, all of which he was extremely proud of, but, following those that he coached who later became coaches themselves, including his sons Greg, Scott and Roger, as well as, his grandson Justin, were his proudest moments. Dub was a member of the Emmaus Baptist Church, in which he served as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. Dub was preceded in death by his father Willard W. Raper and his mother Lola Dale Raper. He was one of eleven children, eight siblings which have passed and three surviving siblings, Bobbie Bynum, Ruth Plaster and Tom Raper and his wife Karen. Dub is also survived by his loving wife of 62 years and mother to his four children Jackie Sue Raper, their first son Greg and his wife Tami, their two son’s Justin and Cade Raper and Justin's wife Jamie and their daughter Berkley, their second son Scott and his wife Lori, Scott’s daughter Chelsey Ezell and their son Christopher, third child Roger and his daughters Angie Williams, Annistyn and Anika, and his favorite daughter Misty Denton and her two children Zach and Colten, Zach’s two sons Bryson and Tyler Denton. Sister in law Kittie Costilow and her son Matthew and his wife Calle Cositlow. In all nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren that made his heart happy. Many cousins, nephews, and nieces that he loved and cherished so much. It would be wrong to not make mention of all of those that he loved and thought of as his own sons and daughters throughout his incredible life as a coach.
