Warren Osburn, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 4, 2022. Born on July 20, 1934, at home in Harrah, OK to parents, William James and Julia Berry Osburn.
Warren attended all 12 grades in Harrah, graduating in 1952. He remained friends through the years with his small class of 19.
Warren attended OBU on a basketball and baseball scholarship. He studied art and graduated with an art education degree. In October 1956, Warren began his service to the country in the Army. He served two years in Korea as a Sergeant in Artillery and was discharged in 1958.
He began his career after college as an art teacher at Wilson Junior High in Tulsa. From there he moved to California and was employed by MacDonald/Douglas as a technical illustrator for the Saturn Missile. During his time in California, he also managed an art gallery in Hermosa Beach. In 1961, he returned to Oklahoma and began his next career in adult education at the University of Oklahoma. While working at OU he met his wife, Judy Vogel. After one year at the Chicago Continuing Education Center, Warren and Judy returned to Norman where they raised their family, daughter Michelle born in 1965 and daughter Amy born in 1967. Warren returned to work at OU using his gifts to educate through a variety of programs at the University's Center for Continuing Education. Warren's art was always present using his illustrations to inform and educate the attendees of his conferences. Throughout his career at OU, he continued to produce paintings and sculpture. Warren and his wife Judy, also an artist, showed their art in many shows and galleries locally and across the country. The love of travel to New Mexico and points West was the main theme of Warren's beautiful landscapes.
Warren is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter Michelle Bagley of Noble, Amy Hoffman (Chris) of Tulsa, grandchildren Julia Bagley, Evan Bagley, Scott Hoffman, Sally Hoffman, Dani Hoffman, brother-in-law Skip Vogel (Dru), niece, Jennifer Williams (Cary), nephews Wesley Osburn (Patti), Jason Vogel (Lori), dear friends Jerry and Jeanne Hargis among many others. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Wayne Osburn, niece Pamela Punno and an infant son.
Warren's infectious laugh and sense of humor were enjoyed by all. He enjoyed giving of himself in community service and gifting his artwork to friends and donating to causes. He cared deeply about supporting Food and Shelter for Friends. He did not want anyone to go hungry.
