Virginia Louise (Rhodes) Lovett was born May 28, 1934 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Henry Erwin Rhodes and Doris Beatrice (Hudson) Rhodes. She left this earthly life and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on September 8, 2020.
Virginia grew up in Meeker, Oklahoma and graduated from Meeker High School in 1952. She married the love of her life, Jim Lovett, on June 12, 1956.
Virginia devoted her professional life to teaching. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Home Economics in 1956 from Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) and taught Vocational Home Economics at Chandler and at The Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Further education at East Central and Southwestern Oklahoma State University resulted in an elementary certificate. She received a Masters degree in Elementary Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Virginia secured an Oklahoma funeral directors license and for 13 years helped operate the Lovett funeral service in Mangum Oklahoma where she also taught fifth and sixth grade Science, Health, and Math. She was instrumental in establishing the elementary school science fair which became a tradition for many years. In 1983 she moved to Norman, Oklahoma where she taught first second and third grades until her retirement in 1998. After retirement, Virginia traveled, served as educational leader for the first and second grade Sunday morning classes at the Alameda Church of Christ and took care of her grandchildren. She taught vacation bible school, enjoyed cooking, sewing, teaching, church, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her favorite color was yellow, and she had a definite love for shoe shopping.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters; Jamie Turnquist and husband Michael, Lisa McGraw and husband Trey, sister; Josie Ford and husband Wendell, brother; Dan Rhodes and wife Margie, grandchildren; Dustin Lovett, Andrew Bull and wife Crystal, Rachael McGraw, Savannah Cluck and husband Chris, Lacy Jennings and husband Mitchell, Beau McGraw, Shyla McGraw, great-grandchildren; Marielena Gerner, Hunter Murphy, Brody Lovett, Paxton Lovett, Kash Cluck, 4 nieces and 4 nephews.
