Suzy Rawlinson

June 15, 1945 — December 22, 2019

Suzy Rawlinson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on December 22, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma. Suzy was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on June 15, 1945. She was the only child of Morris and Bonnye Dulaney.

Suzy had a generous and loving spirit and devoted her life to her family and community. After graduating from Duncan High School in 1963, Suzy attended The University of Oklahoma where she was a proud Kappa Kappa Gamma member. Suzy loved her Kappa sisters and maintained lifelong friendships with many of them. After taking a year off from school to help her mother care for her father in his final days, Suzy graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1968.

Suzy met Gary Rawlinson on a blind date as a senior at Oklahoma. They married in August of 1968 and established their lifelong home in Norman. Suzy and Gary had a wonderful marriage and recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Suzy was a devoted wife and mother, raising her three children Matt, Lindy, and Peter. She was always very involved in their activities growing up and proud of their many accomplishments. Suzy was active in the Norman community, serving as a volunteer coordinator at Norman Regional Hospital, a Sunday school teacher at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, Annual Fund Chairman for the March of Dimes, and a founding member and later President of the Assistance League of Norman. Additionally, Suzy was active in PEO, and served on the Kappa Kappa Gamma House Board for many years.

As her children grew, Suzy enjoyed working at Harold’s on Campus Corner and later at The Columns. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Suzy loved to paint, needlepoint, play in her weekly mahjong game, travel on many family vacations or trips with great friends, and spend summers in her Colorado mountain home. With her husband, Suzy acquired a love of fly fishing, and they spent many happy years sharing the waters and the scenery of Goose Creek and the Blanco River. Most of all, Suzy loved to visit her children and later her grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.

Suzy is survived by her husband, Gary, her children Matt and his wife Evie of Houston, Lindy of Dallas, and Peter of Austin, as well as her beloved grandchildren Cortland, Jax, and Dyer of Houston.
