Stephen Charles Paine was born on December 27, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Clarence William Paine and Helen Pauline (Moore) Paine. He passed away at the age of 61 on November 19, 2015. Stephen graduated from Phillips University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science and continued his education at Oklahoma State University. In 1999 he married the love of his life, Debbie (Green) Cossairt on the beach in Carmel, California.
Stephen was a man of many interests. He liked to spend his indoor time reading Tom Clancy novels, watching NCIS, or cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Oklahoma Sooners, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Dallas Cowboys. Where Stephen was happiest, however, was outdoors. He loved riding bikes, swimming, camping, fishing, just being outside. He translated this love into a career as an Environmental Geologist for the petroleum industry where he got to spend his days analyzing soil and rocks. He was a member of the AAPG and was a registered Geologist in Wyoming. Even more than reading, cheering on his teams, or being outside Stephen loved spending time with his wife and his children.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jesse Paine. He is survived by: wife Debbie of Norman; son Jacob Paine of Denver, Colorado; daughter Kristin Paine and J.R. Hildebrand of Boulder, Colorado; step-children Shelley Egli and husband Kurt of Austin, Texas and Carl Sinclair and wife Kristi of Norman; step-grandchildren Preston Rogers and Prailey Sinclair, both of Norman; brothers Michael Paine and wife Sue of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Mark Paine and wife Dawn of Gainesville, Texas; three nieces and one nephew.
Donations be made in Stephen’s name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at omrf.org or 825 NE 13th, OKC 73104.
