Sarah Elizabeth Ann Adams

April 8, 1980 — August 1, 2024

Norman, OK

Sarah Elizabeth Ann Adams passed away in Norman, Oklahoma, on August 1, 2024, and was welcomed into the arms of her beloved mother, Allene, in the presence of Jesus Christ, her savior. Sarah was born April 8, 1980, in Norman, to her parents Glenn Adams and the late Allene Adams. After the death of her mother when Sarah was four, Sarah delightedly welcomed a new mother into her life when her father married Cathy Ann Adams, who raised her as her own.

Sarah became a believer in Christ as a young girl. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norman and participated in numerous youth mission trips and other activities of the church youth group. She enjoyed working in the church’s Family Life Center, until her illness intervened.

Sarah attended Norman Public Schools from the fifth grade and graduated from Norman High School in 1998 as a valedictorian. She was active in the music program and performed in the Show Choir. Sarah was very active in student government, serving on the Student Council, attending two years at the national student council convention. She was elected Vice-President of the senior class. During her junior year, Sarah was a student member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Norman Board of Education. One of the tasks of that committee was to make a recommendation concerning which high school the seniors would attend since the 1997-98 school year was the first year Norman High School North opened. Sarah was instrumental in convincing the school board that the seniors should be allowed to choose which school they would attend, an option which the board initially was not going to offer.

After graduation, she started to continue her education at the University of Oklahoma with great promise—making great friends and becoming a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Unfortunately, that college education was cut short by the chronic illness which plagued her for the rest of her life. She fought her illness valiantly, and despite its debilitating effects intermittently was able to work in customer service in healthcare, financial services and banking. She was most recently delighted with her employment at BancFirst.

Sarah was a strong woman. She loved her family, especially her two nephews and niece, Brayden, William, and Lela and her friends. She was hilarious, always ready with a quip, and always ready to correct if you got something wrong about Harry Potter or the West Wing! She was also a lifelong fan of University of Oklahoma sports. She was a friend to all, loved animals, and was an avid reader. She often volunteered at the Noble Public Library

Waiting to welcome Sarah into heaven were her mother, Allene Adams; her grandparents, William and Mary Clark, Leo and Edna Adams, O.D. Cacy and Anna Cacy; her uncle and aunt, Wyatt and Neva Adams; and a cousin, Ryan Adams. She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Isabella. She is survived by her parents, Glenn Adams and the mother who lovingly raised her, Cathy Adams; her brother Billy Adams and his wife Sierra Adams, and their three children, Brayden, Lela and William; her sister-cousin Petty Officer First Class Whitney Adams and her husband Dan Beatty; her aunt and uncle, Sarah (Auntie) and Richard Neph and their children, Rebekah, Joshua, Matthew, and Caleb; her uncle, George Clark and his children Katie Clark and her wife Kristin, and Mikenzie; and a multitude of relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Sarah will be held at First Baptist Church of Noman, 211 W. Comanche, Norman, OK at 2 p.m Friday August 16th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the James S. Drennan Memorial Trust (a scholarship fund for musical students at First Baptist Church) c/o WatersEdge, 3800 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112, designating your gift for the Trust in memory of Sarah Adams; or to the Pioneer Library System Foundation, 300 Norman Center Court, Norman, OK 73072 or online at www.plsfdn.org, designated for Noble Public Library, in memory of Sarah Adams.
