Samuel Peter “Sam” Scanlon was born July 31, 1991 in Steubenville, Ohio to John Theodore Merriman and Annemarie Scanlon. He passed away November 1, 2020.
Sam was a counselor and a mental health technician for The Lighthouse. He was always a good listener and very kind hearted. He loved to make people laugh and he enjoyed cooking, he even made potato chips and they were delicious. He was a huge “Star Wars” fan, liked watching horror movies and even enjoyed reading, just for fun. He had a great love of his sisters and loved hanging out with them. He was the best big brother and protector that his sisters could have ever asked for. His other love was his dogs and Sam was certainly a “dog whisperer.”
He is preceded in death by his father; John Merriman. He is survived by his mother; Annemarie Scanlon, stepfather; Randy Smith, sisters; Gracie Scanlon and Jenna Drier, half brother; Jedidiah Wilson, grandparents; Bill and Joan Scanlon, uncles; Dave Rausch, Mike Scanlon, John Scanlon, Joe Scanlon, John Martorana, aunts; Mary Rausch, Aubrey Scanlon, Elizabeth Scanlon, Ember Seaman, Carolyn Martorana, Caussandra Raymond, cousins; Sarah Scanlon, Catherine Scanlon, Izzy Martorana, Kimberly Smith, Gabrielle Raymond, and many friends.
The family would like donations to be made to the National Suicide Prevention in Sam’s honor.
