Ruby Janette Ketchum

Ruby Janette Ketchum, 87, of Norman, OK, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2025.

Janette was born on April 20, 1937, in Byars, OK to Henry and Gladys (Rambo) Powell. She was a devoted mother, aunt, and friend known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She grew up in Byars and Purcell and she graduated from Purcell High School.

She was passionate about her church, First Baptist in Norman, traveling, spending time with friends and her dog “Baby”, and her presence brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Janette dearly loved her Sunday School class of ladies and their special teacher, Sallie Kennedy.

She is survived by her niece, Jennifer (Tommy) Leonard of Wynnewood; her nephews, Phillip (Tina) Powell of Eufaula, and Stanley (Sheila) Powell of Meeker; and many special friends, who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Ketchum; her brother Bobby Powell; and her sister-in-law Bobbie Powell.

A family graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her honor.

Janette’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
