Roy W. Ford, 84, went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Norman, OK. He was born November 26, 1931, Ada, OK to Roy and Sallye B. Ford. Roy moved to Willburton, OK as a child and graduated from high school in 1950. After graduating high school, he entered the Army and served in combat in the Korean War. Roy graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 and went to work for Halliburton Services in Duncan, OK retiring as Procurement Mgr. in 1993.
Roy loved family and was a proud American Veteran. While in Duncan he was involved in several service organizations including chairman of the United Way and president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1981. He and Karen moved to Norman in 1996 where he was a Deacon and member of Bethel Baptist Church. Roy enjoyed all OU sports, golf, traveling in his motor home, and was known to travel miles to hear a gospel music concert.
He is survived by wife Karen (Pirtle) Ford whom he married in McAlester, OK, in 1961. He is also survived by son, Brian Ford and wife Debbie of Arlington, TX; daughter, Sandi and husband Danny Ross of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Dr. Joseph H. Ford, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Justin, Daniel, Skylar, Siara, and Andrew; 3 sisters-in-law: Marcy and husband Dick Severson, Paris, TX; Robbie and husband Lafe Burnett, Hominy, OK; Anna Doris Pirtle, Tulsa, OK; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
