Ross Nicholas "Nick" Lillard Iii

October 6, 1947 — January 11, 2024

Ross Nicholas Lillard III

Born October 6, 1947 in Oklahoma City to Colonel and Mrs. Ross Lillard. He died on January 11, 2024. Nick graduated from Lawton High School and attended the University of Oklahoma where he became a member of Delta Tau Delta. Nick was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam where he received commendation medals, including two bronze stars.

He graduated from Oklahoma City University’s Law School and married Eileen Foster Lillard in 1976, who was the love of his life. Nick was an assistant to the District Attorney in Cleveland County, a defense attorney and a Federal Prosecutor for the Western District of Oklahoma. He was President of the Cleveland County Bar Association from 1986-1987. Later Nick received, along with his colleague, the Director’s award from the US Attorney General.

Nick was especially passionate about OU football, baseball, softball, as well as other team sports connected to his alma mater. Nick loved to run, play golf, walk his beloved dogs on campus and spend time with his family and friends. Being stationed in Oberammergau, Germany as a child and visiting there decades later was a highlight of his life.

Nick is survived by his wife Eileen, son Nicholas and his wife Mukarram. Further, his sisters Linda Lillard Huckaby, Mary Lillard and brother Richard Lillard. Nephews include Rob Huckaby, Christian Huckaby and John Foster. His beloved nieces Jenn Holt, Carrie Compton, Whitney Huckaby Larimore, Katee Wooldridge, Sherry Hussey, Donna Dalrymple and Vanessa Nash.

In addition, Debbie Combs was a special sister in law, Bob Huckaby a special brother in law, and Bobby Dickey a close family friend from high school. There were many great-nieces and nephews who adored him as their very own St. Nicholas, as he often played the role of Santa for children.

Nick will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm and approachable nature made him a trusted confidant and a cherished friend. He had a genuine kindness that touched the lives of people from all walks of life. Although this text cannot capture the multitude of close, long-term friendships he had, it serves as a reminder of Nick's enduring legacy. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loving family, friends and the countless lives he touched.
