Ronald Keith Bishop passed away on December 12, 2024, in Noble, Oklahoma.
Born on December 24, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Ron was the son of Betty Dawson Bishop and R.H. Bishop. He grew up alongside his two brothers, Ed Bishop (wife, Jeanette) and Dayle Bishop. In 1955, Ron and his family moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, where he attended Duncan Public Schools for eight years. An avid golfer, he earned a spot as a letterman on the Duncan Jr. High golf team, forming lifelong friendships along the way.
In 1964, the family relocated to Norman, Oklahoma, becoming one of the first families to settle in the Brookhaven neighborhood. Ron attended Norman West Jr. High (now Alcott Middle School) and graduated from Norman High School in 1968, where he was also a letterman on the golf team. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Later, Ron moved to Tulsa and completed his studies at the University of Tulsa. During this time, he met Mary Rose, and the two married in 1975. Through their union, Ron gained sisters-in-law Lynda Simmons and Diana Burrup (husband, DJ), and a brother-in-law, Jack White (wife, Mona). They cherished their extended family, which included many beloved nieces and nephews. Ron and Mary were blessed with two children, James Dawson Bishop and Bonny Bishop Coats (husband, Josh). His six grandchildren—Morgan, Taylor, Kendra, Eli, Addie, and Paisley—brought him endless joy.
In 1994, Ron's family grew once again when his mother remarried Commander Robert Wolfard. This brought new family connections, including his stepbrother, Robert Wolfard Jr., and stepsisters Wyn Dee Wolfard Baker and Eloise Wolfard Evans (husband, Randy), along with eight more nieces and nephews.
Ron’s life was rich with friendships, many spanning more than 50 years. His friends, who brought so much happiness to his life, know the special place they held in his heart.
Ron lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by love, laughter, and countless blessings. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
