Rodney Wayne "Rod" Marsh

Our loving, gentle, kind Rodney “Rod” Wayne Marsh was born on June 16,1948 to Elmer Herbert and Juanita (West) Marsh in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He flew into his Savior’s arms on October 29, 2018 after a short illness.

Before Rod had graduated from Norman High School in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Rod was united in marriage to Connie Potts on February 13, 1969. They were blessed with two daughters, Annie and Dawn Michelle. Rod’s civil service career began at Tinker Air Force Base, and during this time they also owned and operated “The Grill” in downtown Norman. Rod transferred to and worked at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico for about 16 years before moving back to Norman in 2006 and returning to work at Tinker Air Force Base. Connie passed away on May 24, 2009.

In January of 2010 Rod met Cara Ditto (Roblyer) through an online dating service and they were united in marriage on October 23, 2010. Since they were both retired, they were blessed to spend time together enjoying various activities, traveling, and most of all spending time with their families.

Survivors include: his wife, Cara Marsh of the home; daughters Annie Davis of Moore and Dawn Michelle DeGraffenreid of Norman; stepdaughter Julie Sparks (Ditto) and husband John of Moore; siblings Allen Marsh and wife Carolynn of Topsham, Maine, Jackie Barnard (Marsh) and husband Leon of Norman, and Kevin Marsh and wife Debra (Hill) of Wanette; grandsons Nick and Alex Morrison of Norman, RJ Kinison of Norman, and T.J. Russell of Yukon; step-granddaughter Jana Sparks and her little brother or sister who is due in March 2019; great-granddaughters Rebel and Lily Morrison; great-grandsons Zander and JT Morrison; and Gidget, his beloved lap dog. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

In addition to his first wife, Connie, Rod was preceded in death by his parents and two beloved pets, Lucy and Chloe.

Rod’s Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at CrossPointe Church (2601 24th Ave SE, Norman) with Pastor Mike Butler of CrossPointe Church and Pastor Rick Belicek of Britton Baptist Church officiating.
