Rodney Frank Henry of Norman, Oklahoma passed away surrounded by his loving family at Norman Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the age of 69. He was born to Russell and Martha Henry on July 4, 1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Rod was a graduate of Chickasha High School then worked as a butcher until he joined the US Army. After being honorably discharged Rod worked at Fountainhead Marina for years before moving to Norman, where he worked as a carpenter for the University of Oklahoma for 26 years until his retirement. He was the biggest OU Sooner fan! Every game day you could count on a huge BOOMER SOONER text as he cheered on his beloved Sooners with his big ole pot of homemade chili.
In November 2000, Rod married Pam Mayhar, the love of his life. Both have been active members of St. John’s Episcopal Church for many years.
Rod’s passions were many and varied. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, taking many long journeys traveling the United States with Pam. Rod spent years studying history and collecting and repairing clocks and guns. He was an avid reader and especially loved watching western movies.
Rod was preceded in death by father Russell and mother Martha and brothers Donnie, Glen, and Lee. He will be lovingly remembered by wife Pam; Rod’s daughter Melanie McClintock Schucker and husband Mark of Elgin, Oklahoma; grandchildren Sidney, Ember, and Jack; step-daughter Niki Harvey and husband Jeremy of Silo, Oklahoma; grandchildren Cayden and Lexi; step-son Shane Arnold and wife Krymsen of Morris, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rod’s honor to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
