Richard Oliver of Nichols Hills was born on June 4, 1946 to Russell Edwin and Eleanor Elizabeth (Stadler) Oliver in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He passed on June 19, 2017 at the age of 71.
Richard attended Harding High School in Oklahoma City, where many of his friends knew him as “Dickie”. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he was assigned to the 175 mil Howitzers in Vietnam. Upon leaving the Army he obtained his Associate’s degree in engineering and went to work for Carlon Plastics in their drafting and engineering department.
Richard loved to go fast. He loved fast cars, speed boats, and motorcycles. He particularly enjoyed driving a Thunderbird Turbo, a Dodge Charger, and a Dodge Challenger, and he raced Maico and Husqvarna motorcycles. He owned a speed boat, which he loved piloting out of his property on Lake Eufaula. When he wanted to slow things down, Richard would go fishing.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Garland Hill. He is survived by his sister Nancy Hill of Bigelow, AR, his brother Bill Oliver and wife JoAnn of Norman, and several nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas.
