Richard Allen Langley, affectionately known as "Rick," passed away on September 1, 2024, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. Born on January 12, 1948, in Dover, Oklahoma, Rick was the beloved son of Aldon Lee Langley and Susie Jeanette Fredregill. He began his education at Valley Brook elementary and graduated high school from Southeast Oklahoma City.
After graduating high school, Rick was drafted where he served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, bravely fighting in the Vietnam War. His courage and dedication earned him many different medals and awards in the Army. Those include, Army Commendation Medal with Valor, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three devices, Overseas Service Bar, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Marksman Badge (M-14) and (M-16), First Class Gunner's Badge (M60), Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart, a testament to his sacrifice and heroism.
Following his military service, Rick pursued a career as an electrician helper, eventually obtaining his Journeyman's license four years later. He worked with diligence and pride until his retirement from Baker Brothers Electric, where he was employed from 1990 to 2007.
Outside of work, Rick enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for water skiing and cherished spending time with his friends and family. Known for his strong spirit and big heart, Rick was a man who spoke his mind and wasn't afraid to show his ornery side, especially toward his siblings. Yet, beneath that exterior was a deeply caring individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Rick's memory will live on through the lives he touched, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, remembered as a true patriot, a dedicated worker, and a loving family man.
