Richard Berry was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on February 28, 1937 to Thomas Marion Berry and Edna Mae (Stephenson) Berry. He passed away on July 20, 2018 in Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 81.
Richard met Amy Sue on a blind date in August 1954 and on June 24, 1955, they were married. They took up residence in Oklahoma City before moving to Norman in 1967 where they raised their family. Richard was employed for 35 years with University Printing Press before retiring in 1990 as a Bindryman, otherwise known as a book binder.
A large part of Richard’s life revolved around his grandchildren. He loved to take them to the park, eat ice cream with them or basically anything that involved being with them. Some of his hobbies included working in the garden with flowers and vegetables, all types of fishing, or just tinkering around with things. When Steve and Stan were growing up he was very involved with them in Boy Scouts. Richard was a longtime member of Alameda Church of Christ and was a great example of a Godly husband and father.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Berry; wife, Amy Sue Berry; sister, Dorothy Oaks; and brother, Tom Berry.
He is survived by two sons, Steve Berry and wife Liz of Phoenix, AZ and Stan Berry and wife Cheryl of Norman; daughter, Jennifer Cook and husband Dale of Norman; sister, Judy Webster; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Berry, Matt Berry, Lauren Berry, Kimberly Berry, Allison Berry, Ben Cook and wife Emily, Brandon Cook, and Andrew Cook; special caregiver, Heather; as well as many friends.
