Reverend Bobby Lee James was born April 19, 1929 in Purdy, Oklahoma to Cephas James and Minnie Ola (Wood) James. He left his earthly home and entered heaven’s gates into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, February 21, 2021.
He was called to ministry early on in life. He was credentialed in 1955, ordained in 1957, serving several small country churches throughout Oklahoma and Texas until 1957. He then began pastoring at Tabler Assembly of God in the Oklahoma District. He then transferred and pastored for five years at First Assembly of God in Winters, TX, North Texas District. He also pastored at First Assembly of God in Stamford, TX, North Texas District. Later, he transferred into the West Texas District from North Texas on October 3, 1972, pastoring Parkview Assembly of God in Levelland. He then transferred to the Minnesota District on March 13, 1983, transferred back into the West Texas District on January 8, 1985 pastoring First Assembly of God in Ralls from 1985-1986. He also pastored Parkview Assembly of God in Levelland from 1989-2000. He later requested to be listed as Senior retired status in 2000 and moved to Newcastle, OK. Even after retirement, he served as interim pastor at Christian Life for a year and a half in the Oklahoma District as well as evangelistic work, traveling throughout Oklahoma and Texas after retirement.
Bobby received Recognition for 50 years of Ordained Ministry in 2007. He could read Greek and Hebrew and through the years, he taught Berean Bible Courses. He will be remembered by many people for the beloved and faithful pastor he was and for his great Love for God.
Up until his death, he was chaplain over Silas Salsa Company and Prima Pit Bull Rescue and Sanctuary. He was also a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Jo Ann (Evans) James, son; Jeffrey James, parents; Cephas and Minnie James, brothers; Gilbert James, Fred James, Edward “Shorty” James, Cephas “Junior” James, sisters; Pauline Woolsey and Josephine Stokes.
He is survived by his son; Lyndell James of Lubbock, TX, daughter; Karen Hart of Blanchard, OK, grandchildren; Aaron Hart, Jevon Hart, and a host of family and friends.
