Reba Mae Searcy

Reba Mae Searcy was born to John and Mary (Hyatt) Thoma on December 16th 1932. She moved to her new home on April 12th, at the age of 91. She grew up on farms in Seminole and Prague, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Edward Searcy on January 25th, 1950. To this union was added 4 sons, Edward Jr., Rickey, Terry, and Rodney. 2 daughters, Gale Keeling, and Rhonda Stovall. In addition to her sons and daughters, she also has 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Reba loved her family greatly. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved to fish, and travel, making trips to Israel, to Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Missionary trips to Mexico, and many trips to California. She loved to cook and can all kinds of things. Fruit and vegetables from the garden, and even pressure-cooking little crappie that dad and the boys caught and brought home. She most of all loved attending church regularly and attending revivals. She was a great Sunday School teacher teaching all ages of children. She was very faithful to minister to the sick and shut in, making phone calls, and sending cards. She was a faithful minister’s wife, helping Edward as he preached and pastored churches. She worked for several years taking care of Thelma Tassi, who had no close family nearby, she was like a daughter to her. Until the declining health of her husband, she loved fixing lunch for the school kids at MVCA. She would often prepare and serve the Pastor and Evangelist a wonderful meal at her home in times of revival. Many pies and desserts were brought to the parsonage for any occasion. She worked weekly to help prepare meals for the homeless. She was always available to do anything around the church that she was able to do. She truly had a servant’s heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers: Syvester Thoma, Jimmy Thoma, Harrel Thoma, and Raymond Thoma, 2 sisters: Aliene Robbins, Norma Scott, Daughter: Gale Keeling, and Son: Edward Searcy jr.

Reba is survived by her 3 sons: Rickey Searcy and wife Sharon, Terry Searcy and wife Becky, Rodney Searcy, and wife Melanie. 1 daughter: Rhonda Stovall and husband Bobby. 2 brothers: Henry Thoma and John Thoma. 2 sisters: JoAnn Kirkham and Annlee Hoskins.
