Peggy Rae O'Neal-Thurston

Peggy Rae O'Neal-Thurston, 64, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on June 7, 1960, in Alberta, Calgary, Canada, to John William Scott and Madella Faye O'Neal.

Peggy was a woman of sharp wit, fierce independence, and unwavering conviction. She moved to Oklahoma 30 years ago to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming an educator and to raise her beloved family. Teaching was more than a profession to Peggy—it was her passion, a calling she pursued with dedication and heart.

Beyond the classroom, Peggy had a deep love for genealogy, spending countless hours researching and preserving her family's history. She cherished the connections between past and present, ensuring that the stories of those who came before would never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jessica Faye. Peggy’s legacy of strength and love continues through her children, Eric Thurston, Staci Thurston, and Megan Thurston; her siblings, Mike O'Neal and Linda Eckert; and her cherished grandson, Tyler.

Peggy will be remembered for her resilience, her humor, and her unwavering dedication to her beliefs and her family. She leaves behind a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
