Patricia J. “Pat” (Sholer) Corley was born July 6, 1931 to William Nathan Sholer and Myrtle Effie (Brown) Sholer in Prague, OK. She passed at the age of 87 on October 13, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Pat grew up in Henryetta and began singing in the church choir at the age of eight. She continued serving in her church choirs throughout her life and served as the choir director in Okmulgee for 14 years. She enjoyed volunteering and participated in many organizations such as P.E.O., Okmulgee Service League, United Methodist Women, Meals on Wheels, and Cleveland County Christmas Store. Pat was known for her warm personality and welcoming spirit; she simply loved people and never met a stranger. She was known by her family for her homemade dinner rolls and an overabundance of Christmas goodies. Pat really enjoyed celebrating and supporting her grandchildren in their many activities and accomplishments. She showed great enthusiasm while watching OU football and basketball games, and she loved playing cards and going on frequent shopping sprees. She also enjoyed beautiful flowers in her garden and getting together with her friends. Pat will be remembered by her family as a spiritual leader and a wonderful grandmother.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband Steve O. Corley; four brothers; and one sister.
Pat is survived by: children: Steve Corley and wife Janet of Norman, Paul Corley and wife Denise of Brandenburg, Kentucky, and Karen Rivera and husband Chris of Round Rock, Texas; eight grandchildren: Mike Corley and wife Trish of Oklahoma City, Kyle Corley and wife Beth of Casper, Wyoming, Kelly Corley of Denver, Colorado, Kelsey Rivera of Round Rock, Madison Rivera of Round Rock, Brent Corley of Oklahoma City, Cole Corley of Brandenburg, and Megan Corley of Brandenburg; great-grandchildren Matthew Corley and Lane Corley; sister-in-law Dean Corley of Mobile, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to the McFarlin Music Ministry or McFarlin Food Pantry (419 S. University Blvd, Norman, OK 73069).
Memorial services to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, October 16th at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church (419 S. University Blvd, Norman, OK 73069). Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
