Patricia Ann Schroeder

April 8, 1949 — November 6, 2020

On Thursday, November 5, Pat Schroeder entered heaven and into the warm embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Patricia Ann Unruh was born in Enid, OK., on April 8,1949 to Helen and Karl Unruh. She married Jim Schroeder on May 22, 1976 in Enid, OK. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Joy Lynn Schroeder, in 1990. She is survived by her husband, Jim, and daughter Faith, and son-in-law Richard Silva of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by her brother, Darrell Unruh of Enid, OK, and sisters Karol Anderson and Cynthia Unruh of Ft. Lupton, CO.

In her own words, she wanted to tell what happened to her when she was 6 years old. “…I asked the Lord Jesus to be my Savior and live inside of me. With the help of my pastor, I understood that I was a sinner. He read to me Romans 3:23 which says, “All have sinned and come short of God’s glory.” My pastor also helped me to see that the wages of sin is death. That is spiritual death. After I realized that I had sinned, he showed me that Jesus Christ had died on the cross for my sins. John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.” According to Romans 6:23, God has freely given us the gift of eternal life thru Jesus Christ, the true Lord and Master of the universe. Then the pastor led me in prayer. I asked God the Father to forgive me of my sins. And He did."

After graduation from Oklahoma Bible Academy in Meno, Oklahoma, Pat attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE. She also spent a month in Liberia being a servant on the mission field. She graduated from Oklahoma University School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1975 to work in the field of Progressive Coronary Care. In 1977, Pat eagerly immersed herself in teaching the one and two year olds in the church she was attending. After Faith was born, Pat gave herself to the privilege of homeschooling her daughter. When Faith left for college, Pat became active in tutoring international students in English. In 2016, Pat was diagnosed with a rare disease referred to as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and it soon began to take a toll on her body, which ultimately took her life. Her husband and daughter were her steadfast and loving caretakers. The family is very thankful for the numerous acts of kindness they received during this trying time from the Christian community in Norman. Thanks also to Angel home healthcare and Frontier Hospice for providing care and guidance and many others who shared their love for Pat by the time they shared with her.
