Patricia Ann Rieger

Patricia Ann Rieger, 84, died May 27, 2021 in Norman after a brief illness. She was born July 21, 1936 to Dr. Joseph A. Rieger and Rose Pauline Eischeid Rieger. She was graduated from St. Joseph High School and soon joined the Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, Texas, where her older sister was already a Catholic nun.

She served Catholic schools in Texas and Oklahoma. She later worked as a librarian at Robin Hill School and was a volunteer starting the library at All Saints Catholic School in Norman. She worked in her brother’s law office and cared for her mother. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, along with the Golden Agers and the Order of Secular Franciscans.

Like her parents, she enjoyed dominoes and card games. She enjoyed her Rivermont friends and family gatherings. She could recite every family member’s birth date and had a great love and appreciation for music, much like her mother. She enjoyed the company of many dogs over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph A. Rieger and Henry A. Rieger and her sister Sr. Kathryn Marie Rieger. Survivors include a sister, Mercedes Skaggs; sisters-in-law Maureen Rieger, Marilyn Zumwalt and Crystal Rieger; nieces and nephews Jolene de Verges, Elizabeth Gossett, Andy Rieger, Larry Rieger, Sharon Rieger, Robert Rieger, Michael Rieger, Mary Ann Logan, Alice Stacey, Molly Rieger, Sean Rieger, Ken Skaggs, Steve Skaggs and Gary Skaggs; 19 great nieces and nephews and several great, great nieces and nephews.

She appreciated the great home care she received from Lisa Freeman, Darci Freeman, Haley Hayes, Ana Osban and Alice Palazzolo.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Tribute Memorial Care, 708 24th Avenue NW, in Norman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 210 N Porter, Norman.
