Orville "Buster" Lee Masters

Orville Lee “Buster” Masters passed away at the age of 95. He was married for 74 years to Naola Sanderson Masters. Buster was born at home to W. J. and Janie Masters. He was the grandson of a Baptist preacher and had a deep and abiding faith, who read his bible every night. Buster was a role model for his sons who were influenced by his morals and strong work ethic.

At about age 12 he experienced a traumatic event when the government took their farm through imminent domain, and destroyed their house, barns, cellar, crops, and some livestock.

He was drafted into the US Army near the end of the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Elsworth AFB in S.D. and Munich, Germany. He was a weapons crewman and at times drove the jeep for his company commander.

When he returned, he went to work for JD. Vaught at his Texaco station until he was hired by the city of Norman Parks department. After 31 years he retired as a maintenance foreman for public works. In retirement he transported cars for various car dealerships.

Buster loved his family, the farm, and his tractors. He enjoyed camping at Sulphur twice a year with his family, where they enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. He belonged to the Goldsby Baptist Church and the Canadian Rivers Old Iron Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his precious son Keith; his brothers, Andrew, Floyd, and Dee; his sisters, Rosemary, Lorene, and Ruth; He leaves behind his wife Naola; his son Rick (Dana); his grandson, Brian (Jessica); his daughter-in-law, Becky; his great grandchildren, Bradley, and Sallieann; and expected soon grandchildren, Julia and Blake and his sister Edith Kobus.

Special thanks to nephews, LD (Pat) and Andy (Faye), Dr. Tom Merrill and Nurse Pam Levy for their excellent care through the years, and the hospice team at Medical Park West.
