Nathaniel Bryan Moss

November 3, 1985 — September 9, 2021

Nathaniel Bryan Moss left this Earth on September 9, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Nathan was born November 3, 1985, in Altus, Oklahoma to Phil and Peggy Moss. He and his family moved to Norman in 1996. While attending Norman High School, Nathan played football, sang in the choir, and was active in the Video Resource Center. He and his friends Alex, Matt, and Zach won a Student Production Emmy Award for their efforts in the VRC. He graduated from Norman High School in 2004. After attending the University of Oklahoma full- and part-time for some time, and working as a digital video specialist for CVW Media, Nathan joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2010. Upon completion of basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he returned to OU and enrolled in the Army ROTC program.

He graduated from OU in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve. In December of that year, Nathan married Jennifer Lohmann and they travelled to Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium after their wedding. He was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 2014. After living in Norman for 2 years, they relocated to the Washington, DC, area, where Nathan began work in the Intelligence Community, serving as a contractor for the Defense Intelligence Agency, where his work focused on counter terrorism. In 2017, Nathan completed a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from OU. While serving in his Army Reserve unit at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2018.

In 2018 he was accepted into the training program for the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Quantico, Virginia. He graduated from the Academy in May of 2019 and became a special agent of the FBI. He was recognized in June 2021 by the Eastern District of Texas United States Attorney’s Office for his outstanding contributions to public safety and exceeding the call of duty. He was the recipient of multiple on the spot awards and other FBI awards during his short time with the bureau.

Nathan was a dedicated and loving husband to his partner in life, Jenni, whom he called his best friend. They enjoyed their time together, travelling and raising their three dogs. Nathan was also a passionate fan of OU athletics. He actually worked for the football team shortly after starting at OU, serving as part of the video crew. Regardless of whether they were in Oklahoma, Virginia, or Texas, he always wore his OU colors with pride.

Nathan is survived by his wife Jennifer, of the home, his parents, Phil and Peggy Moss of Norman, sister Leslie Singer and her husband Jared of Norman, sister Haley Price and her husband Chris or Norman, grandmother Judy Castle of Norman, nephew James Price, and niece Amsie Singer of Norman. He is also survived by his furry loved ones Combat, Max, and Dallas. Nathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Charles and Lucille Moss, and his maternal grandfather Billy Castle.

A private memorial service will be held in Norman for family and close friends, and there will also be a memorial service in Texas for his FBI colleagues and associates. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nathan’s memory to the ACPMP Research Foundation, acpmp.org.
