Mildred Louise Logan

Mildred Logan of Macomb passed away on January 20. She was born on September 3, 1938, in Washington, OK to John W. and Sarah Q. (Manning) Smith. The family lived on a farm near Washington where Mildred developed a love for animals and rural life. Mildred attended elementary and early high school in Washington before attending Norman High School for her senior year.

Mildred married the love of her life, Clifford Logan on June 21, 1957, in Lexington, OK. They and their two sons, Mike and Steve made their home on an acreage southeast of Norman.

In addition to raising her two sons, Mildred worked outside the home from the time she graduated high school when she went to work for Turner Primrose until she retired in 1997 after 30 years at the University of Oklahoma Press where she worked as a proofreader and then as an editor. After retirement, Mildred and Clifford engaged in numerous volunteer activities including helping to establish the Macomb senior citizens center where they both held various leadership positions and volunteered much of their time until Clifford passed in 2016. Mildred and Clifford also volunteered much of their time to the Red Cross and were both active members of the Norman YMCA for several years.

Mildred enjoyed a number of social activities such as square dancing with Clifford and playing cards, dominoes and a number of board games, although her favorite was Wahoo, with family and friends. She also enjoyed travel with her family including cruises to Alaska and Hawaii with Clifford and trips to Yellowstone, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Cancun with her’s and Clifford’s brothers and sisters as well as to Quebec and San Antonio with her son Steve and his wife Martha, and Niagara Falls with her son Mike and his wife Dayna. Mildred also enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially OU football, basketball, and softball. In her last few years, Mildred enjoyed reading romance novels, working crossword puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Survivor with her pets Oscar and Goldie keeping her company. More than anything, throughout her life, she enjoyed being with family and friends, and her pets.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Clifford; her daughter-in-law: Dayna; two brothers: Richard and Bobby; two sisters: Norma and Jewell; five half-brothers: Elick, Red, Jim, Archie, and Doyle; and two half-sisters: Gladys and Exie.

Mildred is survived by her two sons: Mike Logan of Moore, OK, and Steve Logan and wife Martha of Farmington Hills, MI, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mildred’s family entrusted her care to Tribute Memorial Care in Norman. A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday January 29th, 2025, at the Tribute Event Center with Reverend Bruce Ingram officiating. The family will be present to greet friends prior to the service from 1pm-2pm. Mildred will be interred at Washington Cemetery in Washington, OK immediately following her celebration of life ceremonies.
