Martha “Louise” Jones, 101 years young of Norman, OK passed peacefully on November 2, 2022 after a brief illness. Louise, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, neighbor, and friend will be missed greatly.
Louise was born to Caroline “Carrie” Bell and Harley M. Callison on February 28,1921 in Winfield, KS. She was raised with her older brother Charles H. Green and younger sister Mary H. “Sally” Callison Pool.
Since her youth she loved swimming. She was a lifeguard and swim instructor in Winfield, KS. She enjoyed water classes at the YMCA for 18 years up to the age of 99. She loved music and played the violin through high school into college. She chose to leave orchestra in college and joined the marching band where she was on the color guard.
Throughout her life she was involved with community organizations including the Assistance League of Norman, church activities and various clubs.
She graduated from Winfield High School in 1940 and attended two years at Southwestern College in Winfield before going to work at Boeing in Wichita to join the war efforts.
Louise married the love of her life Charles Clinton Jones on July 2, 1944, in Winfield, Kansas and was a Navy Officer wife and homemaker for many years. Their 28 years in the US Navy took them to many destinations including the Marshall Islands in the Pacific before settling down in Norman, OK in 1970. They had 63 amazing years of marriage and four children before his passing in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, sister, son David Charles Jones and grandson Bradly David Jones.
Louise is survived by sons, Clinton C. Jones of Maricopa, AZ and Michael A. Jones of San Diego, CA; daughter, Caroline M. Jones of Norman, OK; daughter in love, Ann Richmond of San Diego, CA; granddaughters, Anna Celeste Jones-Yonika and husband Ken of San Diego, CA, Ericka C. Galey, Oklahoma City, OK, Tayler C. Galey of Houston, TX, and Karina Jones of San Diego, CA; and great grandsons, David J. Jones and Jace Dean Yonika both of San Diego, CA. She very much loved her nieces and nephews and was always there for them.
