Louis Reuben McGee was born November 24, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Edward McGee and Barbara Houchins. He passed from this life and into the open arms of his heavenly father on June 3, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma.
He enlisted in the Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He went on to become one of the first African American Sheriff’s deputies in Los Angeles County. He married the love of his life, Yvonne on January 26, 1955 in Los Angeles, California. In 2005 they eventually moved from San Diego, California to Norman, Oklahoma.
He was an excellent tennis player, enjoyed playing guitar, singing and was an amazing cook. He had a tremendous love for antiques which became part of his career. He loved his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous friends. He had and instilled a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Elsie Mackey and many aunts and cousins.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Edward Louis McGee and wife Lorena of California, Mark Douglas McGee of California, Steven Dwayne McGee and wife Maria of California; two daughters, Dawn Arroyo Mudd and husband Nick of Florida, Cheryl McGee Corkill and husband Shannon of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Justin Louis McGee and wife HaiUyen, Eleana Arroyo, Ruben Arroyo, Elyssa Arroyo, Erynn Mudd, Evan Corkill; great grandchildren Gabriella McGee and another precious one on the way, Julian McGee.
