Lea Ann Williams

Lea Ann Williams was born to Howard E. Burger and Wanda (Edmunds) Burger on March 12, 1956. She passed away on January 11, 2018 at her home in Norman after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Cancer didn’t win, Heaven won.

Growing up in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Lea Ann was involved in just about everything, from basketball to cheerleading, competitive speech, and the Future Homemakers of America. She attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma for two years, then moved to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma. After graduating with a degree in education from OU, she married her sweetheart, Steve Williams, in 1978. She went on to teach elementary school at Falls Lakeview, George Lynn Cross Academy, and West Oaks Academy. Lea Ann and Steve had two daughters and later were blessed with two sons-in-law and three grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church Norman and served the Children’s Ministry there for twenty-eight years.

Lea Ann served in everything she did as a faithful wife, loving mother, and trusted friend. If you couldn’t find Lea Ann cooking for the masses or helping behind the scenes for a shower or wedding, she might have been on the beach at her favorite spot in Destin, Florida. Her life was full of family and friends. She brought people together with her kindness and hospitality, and she showed the love of Jesus to all with whom she came into contact. Beloved by everyone near to her, we will forever be touched by her friendship, compassion, and service.

Lea Ann is survived by: her husband, Steve Williams; two daughters, Lauren and husband Mike Weatherholt and Jordan and husband Matt Barton; three grandchildren, Eli, Nora, and Haddie Weatherholt; one sister, Laurie and husband Roger Zink; and her mother, Wanda Burger. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Burger.
