Larry Dean Hartman

May 27, 1945 — December 18, 2022

Larry Dean Hartman passed away peacefully December 18, 2022. He was also known as “Larry Dean” “Dad” “Squirrel” “Papa Squirrel” “Uncle Squirrel”.

Larry was born to Elmo and Eunice Hartman in Rayville, Missouri on May 27, 1945. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1963. Larry married Mary Ann Harris in Rayville, Missouri on April 11, 1964 and they had 2 children, Randy and Debbie Hartman. When he lived in Lexington, Missouri he worked at Merchants Delivery Service for multiple years before they went out of business. In 1981, Larry moved his family to Norman, OK and found a job at Dolese Bros, Inc where he worked for 26 years and then retired. During that time, he went to school in Oklahoma City, OK and obtained his auctioneering license where he enjoyed donating his time auctioning for the Boy Scouts of America and various events throughout the community. Even though he enjoyed retirement, he couldn’t stay retired long and returned to the work force with Van Eaton concrete, where he was a parts driver/loader operator. Unfortunately, in Jan. 2021 his health started to decline and forced him to retire for the second time.

In his younger years he enjoyed trail rides with the saddle club, bowling, and worked as volunteer firefighter. As he got older, he enjoyed garage selling, looking for antiques, valuables, and treasures. When he found those treasures, he would sell them at the local flea markets. He had a mass collection of cookie jars, marbles, and salt and pepper shakers. One of his real enjoyments was fishing and hunting. Morel mushrooms, turkey, and deer hunting are what he enjoyed hunting the most. He also loved playing the slot machines at the casinos. He will be missed by all who knew him and we will treasure many memories.

He was preceded in death by parents, Elmo and Eunice Hartman; wife, Mary Ann Harris; son, Randy Hartman; brothers, Carl Wayne Hartman, Myron Hartman; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Fran Harris and Jim and Theresa Harris; brother-in-law, David Wayne Blackford; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Harris.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Debbie Hartman-Sporn and husband Rick; brother, Jewell Hartman and wife Susy; sister, Carol Hartnett and husband John; sister-in-law, Sandra Hartman; grandchildren, Allison Sporn, Colton Sporn, Kyle Hartman and wife Natalie, Taylor Hartman and wife Hannah, Brayden Hartman and girlfriend Hannah, ShyAnn Vickery and husband Corey, Rylee Jacobs, Richard Sporn and wife Tai, Matthew Sporn, Mackenzy Cowles and wife Cheyenne, great grandchildren; Gryffyn, Knox, Bodhi; special friend, Fran Daniels; and a host of extended family and friends.
