Kerry John Burkhart was born June 30, 1967 in Wichita, Kansas to Clifford P. Burkhart and Barbara A. (Edwards) Burkhart. He passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones on January 26th 2023 in Norman, Oklahoma following a short battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer.
In 1993 he married his High School Sweetheart and love of his life Lisa Mari Detherage. They made their home in Norman, Oklahoma. To this union were born 3 children, Mackenzie Ann, Bryce Zachery and Alexandria Raquel.
Kerry worked in the construction equipment sales industry with Warren Cat for 16 years. He made many close friends and confidants. His motto was displayed in his office on a nameplate stating “Good vibes only”.
Kerry loved sports, coaching his children and spending time with his family. He was a very easy-going gentle giant that loved life and was respected by many. He told us that he was blessed by God who gave him time to tell the ones he loved how special they were, how much they meant to him and how much he loved them. During his illness he was able to sit in the big chair with his wife, children, his father and other family members and talk about life, the past and the future. We will always cherish those moments.
Kerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and coached youth athletics. He attended St. Thomas More church and centered his life on God, family and friends.
Kerry is survived by his wife, Lisa Burkhart of the home; daughter Mackenzie Burkhart, son Bryce Burkhart and daughter Alexandria Burkhart of Norman, Oklahoma; father Clifford Burkhart of Norman, Oklahoma; brother Korey Burkhart and wife Alyson of Great Bend, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Kerry was preceded in death by his mother Barbara A. Burkhart, his brother Christopher Burkhart, sister Kimberly Burkhart and uncle Jim Edwards.
