Altus

Keri (Kirkpatrick) Koehler, of Altus, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 11, 2025, following a tragic accident to which she succumbed.

Keri was born in Dallas, Texas, and spent most of her formative years growing up in Norman, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norman, and active in the Girls in Action (GA) program and the Youth Choir. She was also active in the Campfire youth program. She was an attendee of Cleveland Elementary School, Longfellow Middle School, and West Mid-High School. A 1985 graduate of Norman High School, she was active in youth government and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Keri had a lot of friends and was well-liked due to her gregarious personality. She was a good student and graduated near the top of her class, going on to take courses at the University of Oklahoma and Tarrant County Junior College.

Not one to dally in one place for too long, Keri spent her adult life engaged in various people-focused occupations in different locales, ranging from a stint in the Fort Worth Cattle Industry, to years in the food service industry, and finally to managing a number of GNC stores across Oklahoma. She was extraordinarily passionate about her pursuits. Keri was an avid dancer and loved music and the club scene, often claiming she missed her calling as a Studio 54 Girl. A lifelong lover of animals, she was a mother to many cats over the years, to which she was committed until the end. She was married twice, once to Chris Cheek of Hobart, OK, in 2005, with whom she shared a daughter, Amanda, and again in 2012, to Russell Koehler of Blair, OK, who passed in 2016.

Keri is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Kirkpatrick, and a brother, John Kirkpatrick. She is survived by her daughter Amanda (Cheek) Dickson, and husband, Jaden, of Lawton; her father, Ronald Kirkpatrick, and wife, Karen, of Norman; a brother, Ronald Kirkpatrick II, and wife, Amy, of Norman; and a sister, Kelly Derichsweiler, and husband, Greg, of Marlow. Additionally, she is survived by nieces Katie Kirkpatrick and Maggie Derichsweiler, and nephews, Hojae Kirkpatrick, Matthew Derichsweiler, and Patrick Derichsweiler. She also leaves behind her many beloved aunts and cousins, as well as numerous friends.

A celebration of the life of Keri (Kirkpatrick) Koehler is pending at Tribute Memorial Care in Norman. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Altus Animal Welfare Association, Second Chance in Norman, or Wild Care Oklahoma, in Noble.
