Kathrin Lanora Cottrell

Kathrin Lanora (Prewitt) Cottrell was born on January 14, 1939, in Wewoka, OK to Robert and Opal Prewitt. She passed from this life February 7, 2022, in West Plains, MO after a lengthy illness at the age of 83 years and 24 days.
Kathrin worked at various jobs over the years, including the Pauls Valley Hospital in Pauls Valley and as a cook at the senior citizens center in Byars, OK. She also babysat and kept foster children for several years. Kathrin even spent 18 months in Landstuhl, Germany with her husband during his Army career.
In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, word search puzzles, reading and gardening, and of course spoiling her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and was loved deeply in return. She will be missed greatly.
Kathrin is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Cottrell; her son, Clayton Cottrell; her parents Rob and Opal Prewitt; her brother, Glen Prewitt; and a granddaughter, Heather Burdge. She is survived by her sister, LaFleeta Hefley of Pauls Valley, OK; her daughter, Sherrie and husband Marvin Dodson of Thayer, MO; her grandson, Raymond (Rusty) Dodson of Thayer, MO; six great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Kathrin’s family has entrusted her care to Tribute Memorial Care in Norman (708 24th Ave NW, 405-292-4787). Kathrin’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. A celebration of Kathrin’s life will be held at 2:00PM Monday, February 14th at the Cottrell Mission in Stratford, OK (48411 E. County Road 1590). She will be buried in Byars Cemetery, in Byars, OK next to Raymond.
