Joseph Weldon "Joe" Flenniken, Jr.

Joseph Weldon “Joe” Flenniken Jr. was born in Fort Worth, TX to Joseph Flenniken Sr. and Dorothy (Hundle) Flenniken on February 12, 1954. He passed at the age of 65 on April 11, 2019.

Joe grew up in Madill, OK, where he graduated from Madill High School in 1972. He then landed in Norman, OK, in 1973, where he stayed, earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Joe and Leslie Fischbeck Flenniken met at the University of Oklahoma and they were married for 24 years. He also spent 22 years as a technician for the University of Oklahoma School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering.

Joe loved his cats and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bird watching, snow skiing, and spending time in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Joe was an avid gardener, growing tomatoes, peppers, and beautiful flowers. Joe was also a great cook and master griller. He spent many Friday nights as chef, cooking for Leslie and their friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Leslie of Norman; daughter Audrey of Norman; Son Tyler of Norman; granddaughter Peyton of Norman; brother Larry (wife Mindy) and nephews Joseph and Adam of Tulsa, OK; sister Lee Ann Alpers (husband Todd) and nephews Ryan and Kyle of Broken Arrow, OK.
