Joseph Harold "Joe" Walden

September 22, 1935 — August 13, 2016

Joseph Harold “Joe” Walden, 80, of Norman was born on September 22, 1935 to Jesse Hamilton and Vivian Irene (Waring) Walden in Norman. He passed on August 13, 2016.

Joe began his illustrious career at TD’s Radio and TV as a journeyman before opening his own store, Campus TV, in 1960. He started out repairing televisions and other appliances, but through the years his business evolved into providing a variety of goods and services and in the 90s he added “and Music” to the name. He loved the energy of Campus Corner and his special relationship with the musicians performing at The Deli is what led him to start selling accessories and parts for musical instruments, particularly drums and guitars. Joe and his store were a fixture of Campus Corner for over 50 years.

Joe was a lover of music (anything that could “provoke the Devil” was all right in his mind), cats (he always kept a “shop cat”, most recently Charlie), jokes, and sports. He loved the Oklahoma Sooners but he was most definitely, unequivocally, NOT a Dallas Cowboys fan! Joe was a true people person and a friend to many.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by: son Joe Don Walden and wife Pat; brother Fred Walden and wife Carolyn; nephew Tonny Walden and wife Sara; and niece Jessica Crook and husband Jeff.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Joe’s name to Second Chance Animal Shelter (information below).
