John William “Bill” Strong passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the age of 87.
Bill was born in Hobart, OK on July 15, 1937 to parents, Carl Strong and Viola (Marler) Strong. He graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City and later enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany from 1957-1960. He continued his education following his military duties at Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK and the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Bill met and married the love of his life, Wilfriede Sieglinde “Frieda” Strong in Nuremberg, Germany September 19, 1959. They returned to the United States in 1960 and lived in Oklahoma City and Yukon, OK before making their permanent home in Norman, OK in 1974. They had two daughters, Jackie and Dana.
Bill retired from a 45-year career as a real estate appraiser with Local Federal Savings & Loan, Smith Roberts Land Services, and his own company, REAG, Inc., that he owned with colleagues he had worked with through the years. He was a Designated Member and past Chapter President of the Appraisal Institute.
Bill enjoyed traveling, football, and spending time with family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Frieda, brother Wayne Strong, and sister Evelyn Hudson. He is survived by daughters, Jackie Moss and her husband Jimmie of Norman, OK; Dana Titkemeyer of Roth, Germany; grandsons, Blake Moss and his wife Jill of Norman, OK, Derek Moss of Norman, OK, Sven Titkemeyer and his wife Michelle of Allersberg, Germany; granddaughter, Nina Titkemeyer of Neuhofen an der Krems, Austria; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Blakely, Brooks, Hadley, Luis, and Chandler, and a host of other family and many friends.
Bill’s family extends sincere thanks and gratitude to Bill’s beloved home health care nurse, Christy McCracken, for the kind and loving care she provided for him over the past few years.
Bill was a pillar of strength, love, and unity for his family, and he leaves a legacy of compassion, integrity and faith that will live on through the countless lives he has touched.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tribute Memorial Care Chapel, 4300 W. Indian Hills Rd., Norman, OK 73072, with burial to follow at Warren Cemetery in Norman.
