Joan Darlene Everett

June 12, 1937 — June 8, 2020

Joan Darlene Everett (Hinz) was welcomed into Heaven with open arms on June 8, 2020.
Joan was born on June 12, 1937 in Washita County, Oklahoma near the town of Corn. She was the youngest of three children to Arthur Hinz and Katherine Hinz (Ediger). Arthur and Katherine raised their three children on farms near Corn, Oklahoma and Perryton, Texas. She graduated from Corn High School in 1955 and later attended Oklahoma City University.
She married the love of her life Norman Dale Everett in Clinton, Oklahoma on December 27, 1959. In 1961 they started a new venture with Dale’s parents by owning and operating a cattle ranch near Elm Creek, Nebraska. During this time they welcomed their first two children, Kristie in 1964 and Clark in 1968. They created very fond memories of their time in Nebraska and made many lifelong friends. In 1969 they returned to Oklahoma and settled in Norman where she continued to be a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Dale and Joan’s third child, Blake, was born in 1975. She went to work for the Norman Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant in 1981 and loved working there until her retirement in 2013. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as a past member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and on the board of education for Trinity Lutheran School.
Joan’s heart was most full when she was entertaining. She treasured hosting family and friends for dinners and holidays. She loved being a homemaker and was a fantastic cook. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time outside in her backyard. Joan and longtime friend, Margaret Chandler, were often found sharing wonderful stories over a glass of wine on the patio. She was adventurous and took many trips with family and friends. She especially loved her travels with her dear friend, Janell Brock. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and greatly enjoyed their time spent together.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers Gordon Hinz and Warren Hinz.
Joan is survived by her daughter Kristie (Everett) Van Hoozer and husband Walter of Spring, Texas; sons Clark J. Everett of Chicago, Illinois, Blake A. Everett and wife Jenny of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Katherine Van Hoozer Malthaner and her husband, Michael, Jacob Van Hoozer, William Van Hoozer, Abigail Everett and Augustus Everett; nephews Scott Buie and wife Jolie, Todd Buie, Mark Buie, John Hinz and wife Karen, Kevin Hinz and wife Wendy; niece Leanne Mawhorter and husband Sean; brother-in-law Larry Everett and wife Mary; sister-in-law Patricia Buie; extended family Jane and Steve Campbell, Olivia Campbell, Jim and Madeline Chandler, and a host of friends.
