Janice Rae Masters

November 16, 1939 — November 1, 2021

Janice Rae (Price) Masters was born on November 16, 1939 to Hartley and Daisy Price. She went to be with her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in her heavenly home on November 1, 2021.
Janice was raised with her older brother, Denny Price in Washington, OK until her 8th grade year when Hartley and Daisy moved their family to Norman, OK so that Denny would have more opportunities for sports. Janice spent lots of time at ball fields and basketball courts cheering on her big brother and hanging with girlfriends. She also enjoyed working in the soda shop at Massey’s Drugstore.
While cheering on those teams, one of Denny’s best friends and teammate began to take notice of her. Janice and Don became high school sweethearts. Janice attended one year of college at the University of Oklahoma and then married Donald H. Masters on September 19, 1959 at Trinity Baptist Church in Norman.
They spent their first year of marriage in Shawnee, OK. Don finished up his basketball and baseball career at Oklahoma Baptist University while Janice worked at the local branch of First National Bank.
After graduation in 1960, Don and Janice made their home in Norman and started their family. Janice spent her life dedicated to being a loving wife and raising her 3 daughters; Donita, Dayna and Denise. There was not a baby she didn’t love and used that passion to begin Jan’s Home Day Care in 1980. She kept teacher’s children so that she could be home in the summer with her own girls for 15 years. Jesus, family, her day care kids, and church filled her days with joy and purpose.
Music was always a big part of her life. She loved singing in the church choir, “The Notables” (a ladies ensemble at Trinity Baptist Church) and the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma. Although, her favorite music memories were singing alongside her family.
She is survived by her husband, Don Masters of 62 years: 3 daughters, Donita Cooper and her husband Guy of Ponca City, OK; Dayna Cooper and her husband Ty of La Crosse, WI; and Denise Jones and her husband Stu of Brentwood, TN: 5 Grandchildren, Melodie Cooper, Stephen Cooper, Christina Beck and her husband Drew, Spence Jones, and Price Jones.
Janice is preceded in Heaven by her parents, Hartley and Daisy Price and her brother, Denny Price.
In lieu of flowers, Mom’s wishes were for donations to be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or First Baptist Church of Norman.
Service will be livestreamed.
