In the blink of an eye, Howard W. Henshaw entered heaven on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 on the wings of an angel. Howard was born on July 6, 1959 at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii to Richard and Wilma Henshaw. Howard is survived by his wife, Donna Henshaw; son, Chris; and grandson, Noah. He is also survived by his sister, Terry, of Crestview, FL, and Donna, of Winchester, TN, along with numerous nieces and nephews and innumerable brothers and sisters in arms that he treasured dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Howard joined the Air Force Reserves in 1982 and was assigned to the 507th Tactical Fighter Wing at Tinker AFB, OK until he separated from the Reserves in 1993. It was during this time he met the love of his life, Donna Dunn. They were married on August 9, 1991 and the following June they were blessed with the birth of their son, Chris. His family meant everything to him and they provided him with the most pleasure.
Howard went on to join the Army in 1994 and he was immediately separated from his family when he was sent to South Korea for a year. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Kentucky, Germany, Texas, Louisiana and finally Oklahoma. He was also deployed to Iraq twice, again separating him from his beloved family. Throughout his Army career, Howard gained many friends (brothers and sisters in arms) that he cherished.
After Howard’s retirement from the Army, he went to work for Rush Truck Center in Oklahoma City. He loved working at Rush and became very close to the employees there and gained a new family through his co-workers.
Some of Howard’s favorite things to do, besides spending time with his adorable grandson and family, was working on his 1976 Mustang and going camping with his family. He was really looking forward to the day he would fully retire and he and Donna would be able to camp more frequently. Howard never met a stranger and he managed to retain hundreds of friends, going as far back as elementary school.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Norman Regional Hospital for their compassionate care of Howard during his time with them.
