Gwendolyn Agnas (Baker) Thomas was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on November 19, 1933 to Red and Gertrude Baker. On December 20, 2017, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Gwen grew up in the Boston Community area around Lake Draper and graduated from Moore High School in 1952. She married Jim Thomas and served him as a loving wife for 56 years, following him around the world as he served in the USAF. During that time, they had four children. In 1976 Gwen settled in Norman with her family and joined Bethel Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and dedicated member throughout the years. Gwen served on the board of Norman Christian Women’s Connection for many years as well. She loved serving others and was always willing to drop everything to help someone in their time of need. Gwen also had a passion for bowling, where she had great success and many years of fun and fellowship playing in leagues and even traveling to tournaments. She loved spending time with family and friends and could often be found at her grandkids' events cheering them on. Gwen was deeply invested in everything she did. She was a good wife, a committed mom, a devoted grandma, and a faithful friend. Gwen modeled a quiet confidence in God, regardless of life’s circumstances. She left a legacy of faith for her family and friends who loved her dearly.
Gwen is survived by: her children Bill Thomas and wife Bonnie of Indianapolis, Carolyn Smith and husband Allen of South Korea, James “Jay” Thomas of Oklahoma City, and Gene Thomas and wife Elena of Norman; grandchildren Andrew Smith and wife Megan, Marc Thomas and wife Jamie, Ashley Saddler and husband Chris, and Kacey White; great-grandchildren Grady and Jovianne Smith, Hayden and Harper Thomas, and Emma Sadler; brother Ralph Baker of Oklahoma City as well as many other relatives and friends.
