Freddie "Fred" Wayne Hale

Freddie “Fred” Wayne Hale was born on March 13, 1941 to Joseph Earl Hale and Jessie “Hazel” Hale in Wewoka Oklahoma. He passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2025.

While serving in the Navy from 1964 to 1967 he met his future wife, Dovie Lois Wright, the result of a blind date set up by his cousin, Ken Plumlee. They married on June 23rd, 1967 and enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage. They had 3 children they adored. They called Norman home for the last 31 years of their marriage.

Fred began working at Tinker AFB shortly after returning from the Navy where he worked for the Civil Service until he retired in 1999 on the same day Bob Stoops was named head coach of the OU football program. If you knew him you probably already knew that.

Fred was a man who centered his life on God, family, friends and Sooner Sports. He loved reading his Bible, talking to anyone who would listen and spending time with his wife. He had an infectious laugh and would crack himself up regularly.

He is survived by his wife, Dovie Hale; Daughter Angie Kinnard and Jay Kinnard of Norman; Son Rodney and Claudia Hale of Shawnee; Daughter Regina Hale of Moore; Granddaughters Haley and Makenzie Kinnard; Grandsons Joey Beene, Clayton and Kelton Hale; Daughter Teresa Hale; Granddaughter Jennifer Kahrs; Great Grandson Niles Kahrs.
