Franceen Marie (Brown) McClendon was born on March 10, 1955, in Yokohama, Japan to Floyd Thomas and Zae Marie (Sherman) Brown. She passed from this life on August 16, 2022.
Franceen’s father worked for the federal government and that took the family to Japan, then back to northern California in 1960. The family moved and settled in the Del City, OK area in 1970. Franceen graduated from Del City High School in 1973. She first attended Rose State College, then went on to Central State University to study further. She was active in the Delta Zelta Sorority at CSU.
She married Mac McClendon on June 30, 1988 in a fun Las Vegas wedding, followed by a non-Elvis ceremony in Oklahoma City on August 13, 1988. Marrying Mac brought her the joy of motherhood, as she became mom to young Michael, aged 6.
Franceen enjoyed many years in the customer service industry, marking many of those years at Hertz Corporation. She formed many great and lasting friendships from her time there.
Franceen entered her most joyful season of life when she became Grammy to Jane Ivy McClendon in December of 2011, and again when Emma Jean McClendon was born in December of 2014. Grammy and her girls enjoyed much laughter and quality time together ranging from shopping to Disney to splashpads, and they always loved sharing a meal at their favorites – Chili’s and Olive Garden.
Franceen is survived by her son, Mike McClendon & wife Amy of Norman, OK, granddaughters Jane Ivy and Emma Jean; sisters Arleen Burkhart of Moore, OK and Noreen Smith of Newcastle, OK; nephews David Burkhart and Brett Dickinson; and numerous cousins and friends scattered about the country.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mac McClendon, her parents Floyd and Zae Marie Brown, and her brother-in-law, Mike Burkhart.
