Dr. James “Jim” Vecent Pertree was welcomed to his heavenly home on August 17, 2018 after a three year battle with an unknown disease. His strong will to live, God’s providence over his life and the love and prayers of his many friends and family carried him through the last three years.
He was born on February 22, 1946 and raised in Marietta, GA to Ralph and Ethel Pertree. He attended Bob Jones University and North Georgia Military Academy. While serving 14 years as a Captain in the U.S. Army he toured in Vietnam. After moving to OKC he worked as an Undercover Agent for the OKC Police Department for 5 years while pursuing a Master’s Degree at OCU. Upon graduation, he took a position with Federal Drug Enforcement Agency as a Undercover Federal Agent. But his true passion was being the owner of Complete Care Chiropractic where God used him to help many people. He never lost his passion for being a chiropractor even giving his last adjustment to his son, Tyler, while seeking treatment at the Mayo Clinic. He was a devoted Youth and Adult Sunday School Teacher for 20 years at First Baptist Church in Moore, OK. Jim had an undeniable love for hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. He was an avid purchaser of hunting and fishing supplies and was known to have his very own “Bass Pro Shop” in his garage. If you’ve ever met Jim, you have probably been pranked by him. He had a love for all things funny and kept his family and friends anxiously awaiting the next time he would pull a practical joke on them.
He will be dearly missed by his loving son Tyler Pertree, and his wife, Mollie; his daughter Courtney Fisher and her husband Ryan; his precious friend Charlotte MaGuire and her husband Gregg; his five grandkids who adored him: Jaiden, Brody, Christian, Baylor, and Jule; and his hand-picked brother Casey Valez. Jim will be remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.
A special time of viewing will be on August 21st, 5:00pm – 7:00pm at First Baptist Church, 301 NE 27th Street, Moore, OK 73160. Services celebrating the life of Jim are scheduled at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 22nd at First Baptist Church of Moore. Burial will follow at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73173.
The Pertree family would like to thank the Norman Veterans Center and Good Shepherd Hospice for their exceptional care of Jim over the past three years.
