Dortha “Dotty” Virginia (Sellers) Kingery of Mangum, OK was born on February 15, 1940 in Dallas, TX to Fred W. and Sara Louise (Jackson) Sellers. She passed at the age of 77 on May 15, 2017 in Norman, with family by her side.
Dotty married the love of her life, Dr. Phillip N. Kingery, on June 7, 1958 at the First Methodist Church in Mangum. Dotty and Phillip shared a love for the ages, setting the example for what true love and a healthy marriage should look like for their children and grandchildren. Phillip stayed by Dotty’s side right up until the very end.
Dotty was a personality larger than life. Though she was small in stature (measuring at only 4’11”), she could out-eat anyone at the table, especially if prime rib was on the menu! Dotty was a gourmet cook, and she loved acting the hostess; when her children were growing up, hers was the house where everyone hung out. She loved dancing and singing, and was very active in the church choir. Dotty never met a stranger, and was known for her bright smile, positive nature, and generous spirit.
Dotty is survived by: husband Phillip; daughter Sandy Heath of Cordell; son David Kingery and wife Kheva of Norman; brother Fred Sellers Jr. of Norman; grandson Paul Kingery and wife Taryn of Norman; granddaughter Molly Perkins and husband John Paul of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Treasure Heath of Weatherford; great-grandson Warner Kingery of Norman; and great-granddaughter Poppy Perkins of Oklahoma City.
