David Norman Scherer was born March 4, 1947, in Long Beach, California to William Fred Scherer and Leona Arlene (Lee) Scherer. He passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.
He enlisted into the United States Air Force in September 1966. Dave met the love of his life, Rosemary Caristianos, and they were married June 12, 1981, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They had a daughter, Ashley and a son, Joe. He retired from sales at Integrated Power Services.
Dave’s hobbies and interests were wildlife photography and tennis. He enjoyed driving to Lake Hefner and photographing mink that he discovered there. He also loved the Wichita mountains and photographing the elk, longhorn, and prairie dogs. He was a member of the South Oklahoma City Community Tennis Association and the Oklahoma City Tennis Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents; uncle’s, Harold Scherer and Cecil Abbott; aunt’s, Eileen Scherer and Irene Abbott.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rosemary Scherer of Newcastle; daughter, Ashley Gunnin and her husband, Jason of South OKC, OK; son, Joe Scherer and his wife, Hannah of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Aubrey Gunnin and Emery Gunnin; sister, Sue Hassett and her husband, Michael of Liberty Lake, WA; nephew, Christopher Hassett of Liberty Lake, WA, nieces, Faith Gartner of Liberty Lake, WA and Sarah Leanne (Hassett) Shelton of Spokane Valley, WA; and many other family and friends.
