Darrell N. Ward

Darrell N. Ward of Norman was born on July 6, 1935 to Elston N. and Viola G. (McPherson) Ward in Payson, Oklahoma. He passed on January 3, 2020 at the age of 84.

After graduating from high school, Darrell enlisted in the U.S. Army and later served in the Army Reserve. He started his career with OG&E in 1957 and began his family by marrying Eva Cottrell. They were married September 7, 1962 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and were blessed with one son, Greg. The family moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 1978, where Darrell and Eva have resided since. Darrell and his family were members of Bethel Baptist Church, and Darrell was also a member of the Meeker Masonic Lodge and the University of Oklahoma Men’s Golf Association. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling and took great pride in the upkeep of his perfect lawn. Darrell and Eva both enjoyed bowling and participated in several bowling leagues over the years. They also enjoyed watching and attending OU sporting events and had season tickets to both OU men’s and women’s basketball for over thirty years.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Adrian Orell Ward. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva Ward, his son Greg and his wife Nancy of Edmond, Oklahoma, and his granddaughter, Annie Entz.
