Charles Dickerson “Dick” Whitsitt, 73, went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 1, 2020. He was born in DeRidder, Louisiana to Charles Dalton and Dorthea Juanita (Dickerson) Whitsitt.
He grew up in DeRidder and Norman, Oklahoma. He attended the University of Oklahoma, and then in 1966 he joined the US Army. After basic training he married the love of his life, Sandy, October 21, 1966. After a tour in Berlin he was sent to Vietnam, during the Tet Offensive, February, 1968. Among his decorations were the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Bronze Star.
Dick finished his career as Chief Financial Officer for Tower Tech, Inc, retiring in 2018 after 24 years. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Oklahoma Society of Public Accountants, and the Royal Order of the Moose. Dick was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Chris Whitsitt; brother, William Whitsitt, and sister, Jan Hunter.
Dick is survived by his wife; brother-in-law Randy Jones; daughter-in-law Courtney Sullivan; son Adam Whitsitt and wife Christine of Tulsa, brother, Mike Whitsitt of Lexington; four grandchildren: Emmett, Ceci, Sawyer and Josie; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
