Catherine Grace Taylor

March 1, 2014 — June 15, 2023

Catherine Grace Taylor, 9 years old, of Oklahoma City passed away after an outdoor accident at her home on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was born March 01, 2014 in Overland Park, Kansas to Eric and Melanie (Harrah) Taylor.

Catherine kicked her way into this world on the first of March, 2014. She was immediately in delight of and a delight to the world and those around her. She had a care-free joyful innocence and purity about her that can’t be captured in words. She had a contagious smile and laugh that was on display much of the time. She was a deeply caring, compassionate, loyal, and fierce young woman. She would cradle a young baby in her arms or shepherd them around our home one day, and be body-slamming her brothers on the trampoline or dunking them in the pool the next day. There was nothing in life she could not do when she set her mind and heart to it. She was the youngest of our children (age-wise) to ride a bike without training wheels, setting the pace for one of her older brothers. She convinced her Papa to teach her to mow our land with the riding lawn mower just a few weeks ago which she delightfully and carefully performed singing at the top of her lungs. She was always willing and thankful to help with needs around the house or with others. She was a little butterfly, joyfully flitting and fluttering about. She was always hungry, and loved to eat Saturday morning pancakes or waffles and eggs. She loved anything she baked, and of course….ice cream from anywhere.

Some of her favorite things were reading books to herself or out loud with her family, riding bikes, playing outside, climbing trees, swinging, picking flowers, running through the fields of flowers, jumping on the trampoline, and most especially swimming in the pool or creek. She loved playing and making all kinds of things with her girl friends, playing “family” and “school teacher” and “church” with her baby dolls, Barbies, Calico Critters, Legos and Polly Pockets with Madeline, building elaborate cities with blocks and train tracks, playing office with her paper-made computers and grandma’s reader glasses, making artistic creations, crafts, drawing and jewelry always with lots of color. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to music from Steven Curtis Chapman and dance-dance-dancing, playing the piano and recorder and singing to herself or with others. She loved going on dates with her Papa to a sweet shop and helping him with whatever project he had going. She loved to explore God’s vast creation outdoors and was so curious, lately, asking questions about everything from very simple to very complex. She loved babies. She begged us to adopt more babies - she prayed for ten more! Contrary to the boys, she loved to get new clothes and shoes, and to go shopping for anything from groceries to clothes and to the hardware store with Papa. She was a tall drink of water but still loved to wear high heels. Her favorite song to hear from Papa was, “You Are My Sunshine”.

She had a deep and loyal love for her family and friends. She was rarely wanting to be the center of attention. She adored being with her Papa, accompanying him everywhere. She was his little shadow. She wanted to be just like her Mama. She loved putting on makeup and doing girly things with Mama, her Grandmas, and her Aunt Elizabeth. Her best friend was her younger sister, Madeline. They did sooooo many things together, and she had such a tremendously good influence on Madeline’s life. However, Jesus was the one she loved most, or in her words, He was “her best”. She loved reading her Bible and her devotional book. She has been a sweet and precious treasure and radiant light in our life and to this world. Though her physical life on this earth has drawn to a close, through God’s promises in the Bible and the evidence in her life we know she spiritually lives on even now with Jesus her Lord and Savior, and the light of her life on earth through Jesus will continue to grow and shine brighter.

We will forever love you, our precious baby girl. We are so proud of you. We are so thankful for you. We are so looking forward to seeing you again in heaven.

Catherine is survived by her father and mother, Eric and Melanie; her brothers, Wesley and David; and her sister, Madeline.
