Carol Ann Halley, 86, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma. Carol was born on June 9, 1938, to Chet and Ann Henry in Pampa, Texas. Carol had a quintessential 1950s childhood. She was a cheerleader for the Pampa Harvesters, graduating in 1956, and attended OSU, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1960.
Carol was an elementary school teacher in various communities from Ponca City, OK to Pampa, TX, and eventually in Norman, OK, where she taught at Cleveland Elementary for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1998.
In 1962, Carol met Douglas Halley and after a whirlwind courtship, the two were married in Pampa in December 1962. Carol and Douglas were married for over 52 years until his passing in 2015. They raised four children with love, wisdom, guidance, and no-nonsense correction when needed. Carol was the number one supporter of her children and grandchildren in school, sports, and any other endeavor.
Carol and Douglas enjoyed their retirement years by traveling around the country to see historical sites, going to Spring Training in Arizona, and following their grandchildren in their activities.
One of Carol’s greatest gifts was in service to others. Whether it was to church, school, or as a friend, she was always willing to give her time and talent to others. This was especially true when it came to family. Carol had a home-cooked meal on the table every evening at 6:00 pm for her family. On Sundays, she always served fried chicken for dinner, a special treat for anyone fortunate enough to be invited.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Douglas, her parents, and her infant son, Michael. She is survived by her children, Nicole Pool, David Halley and wife Greta, Rebecca Halley, and stepson Doug Halley. Grandchildren Joe Halley and wife Cheryl, and Erica Blackstock and husband Brian. Great-grandchildren Peyton and Hudson Halley. Brother-in-law Stanton Halley and wife Janie, and nephews Tim Halley and Steve Halley and family and Brother Bill Henry.
